Hello and welcome! My name is Crystal Vandegrift I am the owner and lead photographer of Crystal Image Photography. We currently operate two studios one  located in Appomattox County, and the other in the Town of Farmville,

It began as a passion and love of photography and quickly evolved into a business.

That was over 14 years ago. With a degree in photography and repeated requests to photograph this event and that event, in 1995, I began Crystal Image Photography.

In the beginning the “studio” consisted of one room in our home. I quickly outgrew the space and we began construction on our first studio; still located on our property in Appomattox County, Virginia. Our studio, which some have called “The Studio in the Woods”, provides customers with a unique setting for environmental portraits as well as the classic “in studio” sessions.

In the summer of 2008 we grew yet again, this time opening a photography studio in Historic Downtown Farmville. We’re located right on main street above Caryn’s Bridals Formal and Tuxedos.

Our newest location provides customers not only the convenience of in studio photography, but the town itself it full of beautiful places for on location photography.

As for my photography, over the years I have received numerous awards and certificates of merit in both photography and photojournalism.

I strongly believe that you are the customer and should get the type of portraits you want. After all, it is YOUR money.

I am a mother, so I know what it is like to work with children; and the time and patience needed to capture just the right shot. So many times, mothers are rushed in and out of studios in a “line ‘em up and shoot ‘em” state of mind, that often leaves them feeling that they spent tons of money and got, well, just a so-so portrait.

Wedding Photography from a woman’s point of view:

Forget those rude photographers. Chances are you or someone you know has either been in or at a wedding where the photographer was rude and pushy. You won’t find that here! I am married; therefore, I know exactly what it’s like to be a nervous bride on her wedding day and wanting everything to be perfect. We do our utmost to work with each bride and her family from the engagement session to the wedding day to make them feel comfortable.
